The Blackberry BOLD is the immediate answer from RIM to the launch of the Iphone 3G. Although from the photo’s, they look very similar - the Iphone 3G and the BOLD aim for different markets.

The BOLD’s design is quite stunning when you see the previous handset designs and the real metal surround adds a little class to the handset.

Using the BOLD is the usual Blackberry affair. Even without a touchscreen, navigating the menu is fast and straightforward. All the icons being more or less self explanatory.

Emailing - there really is no competition at the moment for the Blackberry and the BOLD continues the trend. A comfortable keyboard layout coupled to a very good screen ( best on a Blackberry to date ) makes emailing very very routine and intuitive.

Call quality is good and bringing up contacts is very easy - even if you have hundreds (thousands) of names and numbers. This really was made for  a business person!

Battery life is pretty good although not as good as the Curve owing to the larger and brighter screen but is still very good.

Pro’s

• Superb screen
• Handsome design
• New user interface runs and looks good
• Has video recording
• Good connectivity - WIFI, 3G, Quad Band, GPS
• Good battery life
• Still the one for emailing on the go

Con’s

• Video recording isn’t up to Nokia standards
• Lack of touchscreen
• Slightly on the large side but comfortable

The BOLD is truly the complete business person’s tool and this latest device just stamps down it’s authority even more - even against the Iphone 3G.

No business person should be without one.
