We don’t just review for the sake of it, we actually put the devices through their stride.
The Blackberry Curve was a fine conglomeration aimed at being in between the corporate Blackberries and the consumer Blackberries. Where the Pearl was aimed at the normal phone user ( with their multimedia demands ) and the 8800/8700 being aimed at the corporate user ( with their no nonsense email setup ), the Curve was in between.
The Curve attracted many new users to Blackberry as it blended a full good sized keyboard on an acceptably sized device. Mated to it was a camera to allow the occasional photo should you want.
For many, this was the perfect device as it allowed for hassle free voice calling, easy email typing and good multimedia options (photo’s, movies, mp3’s, etc.). So quite rightly so, the Curve was an extremely good seller.
The full keyboard ( as per 8700/8800 ) meant that emails and text messages were easily
typed unlike the Pearl used a shared key layout. The only gripe I had with the Curve
was the roll ball. It became non responsive after a couple of months -
The battery life is good and able to last a good couple of days with moderate use for emails and calling.

- Screen not bad
- Good multimedia support
Con’s
- No video recording
- No Wifi support
- Quite plasticky
- Reliability of the roller ball
On the whole, at the time, it was the best Blackberry out there and indeed there are still many in use as we speak. Only the nit picking problems noted above bring it back down to earth else otherwise it is a top email smartphone for both the home and the business user.
