The Toshiba NB200 Netbook is Toshiba’s second stab at the bulging affordable netbook market. Taking over from the lacklustre NB100 Netbook.

The NB200 has a 10.1 in (1024x600) WSVGA TruBrite screen which is not overtly bright but still very clear. It comes with a built in webcam, wireless LAN (WiFi), LAN Ethernet port, 3 x USB, VGA output and external audio sockets.

Hard drive is 160Gb with a 3D sensor for protecting the HDD when the netbook is moved or knocked. This basically moves the head of the hard drive into a safe position until the laptop is stationary again. CPU is the Intel Atom running at 1.66Ghz (N280) and the NB200 comes with 1Gb RAM and XP Home preinstalled.

The amazing aspect of this particular NB200 is that it came with the 6 cell battery which claims up to 9 hours usage. I tested this and I got at least 8 hours on proper usage ( albeit with the brightness turned down a little ) which is ultra impressive.

The NB200 - aesthetics wise looks very stylish with its shiny black surface. The only downside is the battery which protrudes slightly, but this is something I can live with seeing that it manages to pump out such astonishing battery times. All in all - a very good netbook at the higher end of the market.

Con’s

The NB200 is in a crowded netbook market, but it stands high up in the list. Definitely one of the better netbooks around and the astonishing battery life is sure to go down well with users. Currently our netbook of choice at this moment in time.
