The Satellite Pro U400 is a nice and compact 13.3” notebook which is the perfect compromise between size and performance for those who don’t want a full blown laptop or a tiny netbook.
The U400 feels quite robust and the keyboard is very useable. The screen has a small degree of flex but nothing worth worrying about. The screen was clear enough to allow comfortable viewing and there were no signs of background bleeding on the screen.

After a little testing, I got a respectable 2 hours 40 mins use out of a single charge and the overall performance of the U400 is pretty good coming from the Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T5870 which runs at 2.00 GHz.
Aesthetically, the U400 will win no prizes, but the nature of the finished product means that looks is not necessarily the most important thing in this sector when business users are looking more for functionality over aesthetics. That said, the rounded edges of the overall design does not make it ugly either.

Con’s
- Not as good looking as a Macbook or Vaio
- Could do with a couple more USB ports
- Sound could be a better
The U400 is a great business notebook and runs Office applications quite well. The Con’s are mostly nit picks as there were no major flaws to the Toshiba U400. All in all, a decent small laptop which can be used every day without too much fuss.
